Question 1

No. The label lists 12 plant and nutrient ingredients and no hormones [10]. Red clover contains isoflavones. Isoflavones = plant compounds that act like weak estrogen in your body.

Question 2

How long does Xtend Life Hormone Support for Her take to work?

Plan on 3 menstrual cycles. The main chasteberry trial ran for 3 cycles [3], and the 2017 review only included trials of at least 2 cycles [1]. Track your symptoms weekly so you can compare.

Accepted Answer

Ask your doctor first. The NIH says women who take birth control pills should not use chasteberry, one of the 12 ingredients [9].

No, unless your doctor approves it. The 198 mg of 5-HTP can cause serotonin syndrome when combined with SSRI or MAOI antidepressants [5].

Perimenopause = the years before your last period, when hormone levels swing. The chasteberry evidence comes from PMS studies, not perimenopause.

For hot flashes, the Menopause Society does not recommend herbal remedies [2], and hormone therapy works best [13].
