What is Liposomal Turmeric?
Curious about liposomal turmeric? Learn all about what it is and how it can benefit you!
Liposomal turmeric, also known as liposomal curcumin, is a form of turmeric that has been enhanced for better absorption in the body.
Turmeric, a bright yellow spice commonly used in cooking, contains a compound called curcumin that has potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
However, the problem with regular turmeric supplements is that our bodies struggle to absorb curcumin efficiently.
That’s where liposomal technology comes in. By encapsulating the curcumin molecules in tiny lipid (fat) bubbles called liposomes, we can greatly enhance its bioavailability and increase its absorption into our cells.
This means that more of the beneficial compounds are delivered directly to where they’re needed most.
So if you’re looking for an effective way to incorporate turmeric’s health benefits into your daily routine, liposomal turmeric may be worth considering!

Liposomal Turmeric Recipe
To create this powerful elixir, gather all the necessary ingredients and equipment needed for the process. The following links lead you to amazon to get them.
Ingredients and Equipment
- Turmeric Powder (BIO GRAPE Curcumin Powder 95% Bio Active USDA Organic Turmeric Extract)
- Ethanol (optional) (Belle Chemical Medical Grade Ethanol)
- Phospholipids (e.g., lecithin)
- A blender (to create liposomes)
- Ultrasonic cleaner
- Distilled water
- Glass Beaker (3 set)
- Digital Scale (optional, for measuring your doses)
- Cellophane
Procedure:
- Put the Glass Beaker on the Digital Scale
- Add 4 table spoons (25g) of turmeric powder in the Glass beaker
- Add 72 grams of distilled water in the Glass beaker
- Add 17 grams of ethanol in the glass beaker
- Mix it with a wooden object until the turmeric powder is completely dissolved.
- Then remove the glass beaker from the digital scale. Put the blender’s jar on it.
- Add 33 grams or 3 1/2 table spoons of Lecithin Granules in the blender’s jar.
- Pour the mix from the glass beaker in the blender’s jar with the Lecithin.
- Blend on low speed for about 3-5 minutes.
- Now add the mix as it is in the fridge for 1-2 hours.
- Take it out an blend it again.
- Repeat this process for about 3-4 times.
- Leave it in the fridge overnight and next day you’ll have to put it in the ultrasonic cleaner. If you don’t have an ultrasonic cleaner, you will repeat the blending/fridge process another 3-4 times. The reason for doing this is to make sure the lecithin granules are dissolved in the mixture.
- Pour the mixture from the fridge to the glass beaker again and put it to the ultrasonic machine.
- Cover the glass beaker with a cellophane.
- Put it in the ultrasonic machine and set it to run for 60 minutes. The Ultrasonic machine should be filled with water. Make sure you read the instructions before using it.
- After homogenization, transfer it to a jar.
- Store the final liposomal curcumin in a sterile container in the refrigerator. It is essential to protect the liposomes from light and heat to maintain stability.
It is important to note that creating liposomal curcumin at home may not guarantee the same level of quality and consistency as commercially available products.
The process can be quite involved and might require specialized equipment that may not be readily available to most individuals.
If you are interested in using liposomal curcumin for health benefits, it is recommended to consider commercially produced products from reputable manufacturers.
Storage and Stability
Storing your homemade liposomal turmeric is like preserving a treasure, ensuring its long-lasting potency and effectiveness. To maintain the stability of your liposomal curcumin, it is important to follow proper storage guidelines.
Firstly, store the solution in a dark glass bottle to protect it from light exposure which can degrade the curcumin. Make sure to seal the bottle tightly to prevent oxygen from entering which can also diminish its potency.
Store it in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight or heat sources as excessive temperature can affect its stability. It is recommended to refrigerate the solution as lower temperatures help preserve its quality for an extended period of time.
By adhering to these storage practices, you can ensure that your homemade liposomal turmeric remains potent and effective whenever you need it.
